Jobber vs Housecall Pro: What One Person or a Crew of Five Pays
By Jeff Burt, founder of Invoice Goat.
Jobber and Housecall Pro both put quotes, scheduling, invoices and payments on their first plan, so the price decides it more than the features. For one person, Jobber costs less. With five on the crew, they're within $10 a month of each other, unless you're a plumber or HVAC tech. Then Housecall Pro shows you $299, not $189.
So before you line up feature lists, price out your own crew, and tell Housecall Pro your trade. And if your day is quote, signature, job, invoice, paid, you don't need either one's many plan levels. That's the day Invoice Goat is built for, on one plan, from your phone. The full side-by-side table is further down.

How Each One Charges for People
Jobber charges by the person. A user is anyone who logs in to view or manage the schedule, and each one past what your plan includes is $29 a month. Core comes with one user, so Core plus four helpers lists at $165 a month. That's less than Connect, but Core has no QuickBooks Online sync and no routing.
Housecall Pro sells people in bundles: one user on Basic, five on Essentials, eight on Max. Need a sixth? Its help center lists added logins as “available only for MAX plans”. Its pricing cards show $35 a month per added user on Max in the general view, and $100 on Essentials and $75 on Max in the plumbing and HVAC view.
Housecall Pro Shows Plumbers and HVAC Techs Higher Prices
Housecall Pro's pricing page opens with a short quiz: your industry, your team size and your goals. Skip it and you get the general prices above. Pick plumbing or HVAC and the cards change.
- For one person: Basic $79, Essentials $229 and Max $349, each with one user.
- For a team: Essentials $299 with five users and Max $649 with eight. In the general view, those are $189 and $329.
- No monthly or yearly choice shows, so compare these with the general monthly prices.
Jobber's pricing page doesn't ask your trade at all. You pick how many people you have and how you want to be billed. The numbers above are for plumbing and HVAC, so if you're an electrician or in another trade, pick yours in Housecall Pro's quiz before you compare. If you run a plumbing shop, our plumbing invoicing software guide walks through a sample plumbing invoice. HVAC techs can read the HVAC invoicing software guide.
Signing Up and Leaving
Both give you 14 days free with no credit card. Jobber's trial runs on its Grow plan, Housecall Pro's on Max, its top plan. If you don't add a payment method, Housecall Pro's trial just ends after 14 days. Its pricing FAQ says “your data is safe” and you pick back up by entering your billing details.
Jobber has three billing terms: no commitment, a 1-year commitment with a 12-month minimum billed monthly, or a year paid up front, where the first payment isn't refundable. Housecall Pro bills monthly or yearly and says it “does not require long-term contracts.”
Leaving works differently, too. On Jobber, an admin cancels, and once the paid period or term ends, Jobber says “you'll lose access to your account data, including clients, jobs, invoices”, so export first. On Housecall Pro you start a support chat, and its billing team reaches out within 1 to 3 business days. Even then, its help center says it “cannot fully process your cancellation or pause billing until a team member has spoken with the account owner over the phone.”

Where Invoice Goat Fits
Here's how a job runs in Invoice Goat. You write the quote at the house, and your customer signs it on their phone. The job goes on your calendar. There's no dispatch board or route planning, just the day's jobs where your crew can see them. When the work's done, you send the invoice with your photos before you leave the driveway, and your customer pays by card or bank transfer. All of it works in your phone's browser, with nothing to install and nothing buried in menus.
Customers answer fast, too. As of September 2026, 64% of quotes sent through Invoice Goat were approved within 24 hours, and 31% of invoices were paid within 24 hours.
It's one plan with every feature: $79 a month, or $69 a month billed yearly, and nobody asks your trade first. Many of our customers run several techs on it. Your crew shares one login at no extra cost, so the helper you add for the busy season doesn't change your bill. Cancelling is a button on your billing page.

How much does Jobber cost per month?
Core, for one user, is $49 a month with no commitment, $39 on a 1-year commitment or $29 billed yearly. On the same three terms, Connect is $139, $119 or $99, and Grow is $199, $169 or $149. Each person past the users your plan includes is $29 a month.
Are Jobber and Housecall Pro worth it for a small crew?
Both are built to run a whole field-service business, with booking, dispatch, routing and automations spread across their plans. A small crew that mostly quotes, invoices and gets paid ends up paying for a lot it never uses. Invoice Goat is built for that crew: one plan, every feature, and the whole job from your phone.
How do I move to Invoice Goat from Jobber or Housecall Pro?
Get your customers out first. On both, an admin exports them as a spreadsheet file (CSV) that arrives by email (Jobber says client exporting is available on select plans). Then set up Invoice Goat yourself for free, or book the $199 onboarding hour with me and I'll move your data over. Finish the jobs already open, then cancel.
